Departing From Glasgow at 10:am. Our first stop is Loch Lomond dotted with picturesque cottages and a pier. Driving up the banks of Loch Lomond, we will pass the eerie Rannoch Moors and passing through Glencoe – the famous massacre of the McDonald clan by the Campbells in 1692. If your in luck, and the mist blankets the mountains your photos will be stunning. We will make a stop for lunch at this point and Glencoe Cafe is our next destination. There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, a cafe for all.
In memory of the men who died in World War 2, there is a commando memorial at Spean Bridge, this is our next destination for a brief stop. Urquhart Castle,
on the banks of Loch Ness, will be our final stop before entering the Isle of Skye.
At this stage, it has been a grueling, exciting and tiring day, from here we will drop you off at your chosen Hotel/Guest house. We will provide recommendations for dining in and around the local area.
Picking you up at 10:00am, we head through Portree and stop briefly at the ‘Old man of Storr’, before continuing on to the Kilt Rock waterfall. If the weather’s right, the views are spectacular. A short drive to Staffin, brings us to the famous Dinosaur Footprints, embedded to the coastline floor it’s worth a look. The Quiraing, a mountain range of escarpments, stopping here you will have the opportunity to stretch your legs, take some photos and take in the beauty of Skye. Next up is Dunvegan Castle, we will stop here for an hour and let you enjoy the elegance of this castle drawbridge and all.
Lunch awaits, we will make our way to ‘Bog Myrtle’ cafe for a bite to eat, a quirky cafe with warranted great food reviews to match.
Our final stop of the day is the magical ‘Fairy Pools’, crystal clear spring water, fed by multiple waterfalls, a photographers dream. The descent is approximately 20 minutes walk down and 30 minutes walk back. Winding back the narrow twisted roads, we will take you back to your accommodation.
Picking you up at 09:00am, we make our way to Eilean Donan Castle. It’s reputed to be the most visited iconic castle in Scotland. You have the option to spend 90 minutes here and pay to enter the Castle, or we can spend 30 minutes viewing the Castle and make our way down to see the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre.
Our next destination is Glenfinnan Viaduct, known world wide as the bridge found in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The Jacobite Steam Train comes over the viaduct at 3pm, we want to arrive early, find both a parking space and good vantage point in plenty of time for some excellent photographs.
We’ll continue on to Glasgow and make a lunch stop at the “Best Fish & Chips” cafe in the Highlands, which offers gluten free and vegan options. To your hotel in Glasgow from Tyndrum is approximately 90 mins,( traffic permitting ) and this concludes your tour of the Highlands!
